23 & the Bunch: Homenaje manifestantes intimidados por la Ertzaintza
Musical whirlwind Inneke23 is already more than 20 years active in the Antwerp (Belgium) music scene. As bass player in legendary garage rock band De Bossen, as member of all female punk band Hari'kiri, and now as singer/songwriter of americana, roots, country-pop songs.From the start Inneke23 has been singing and writing her own songs. Gradually she focused more and more on the Americana side of her work, inspired by country music and American singer/songwriters such as Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Mary Gauthier, Jonathan Richman, Loudon Wainwright III, Steve Earle, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, the Jayhawks, The Gourds. Her first album was the self-released 'Not With A Band'. Belgium Radio 1, impressed with the album, awarded her with the honorary title "queen of lo-fi".
At some stage Inneke23 decided to focus all her efforts on the realization of her two dreams: making music and travelling. She toured Europe with (ex-Jayhawks) Mark Olson & the Creek Drippers, a band that also included singer songwriter Victoria Williams. Next she hitch-hiked through the USA and discovered the America she'd always dreamt about. That included spending the night in the desert of the Joshua Tree, near the mythical "grave" of her idol Gram Parsons.These experiences resulted in a new collection of songs, that Inneke23 decided to record with a bunch of enthusiastic musicians, who shortly thereafter became her new backing band; The Lipstick Painters. The results of that songwriting and those sessions became their debut album 'Elephant Crossing', with songs written in places all over the globe; in Zagreb, Sesto Callende, The Mojave-desert and of course Antwerp, the city where Inneke23 lives and works.
In 2009 Inneke23 received an e-mail from one of her heroes Chris Eckman, founding member of The Walkabouts and Chris & Carla. He also plays with amongst others Dirtmusic, Willard Grant Conspiracy and Steve Wynn's Dragon Bridge Orchestra. He also composes film scores and produced over 20 albums for Terry Lee Hale, Steve Wynn, Midnight Choir, Raindogs and many others. Chris told Inneke23 that he really enjoyed listening to Elephant Crossing and would like to produce her next album and by that time the road had served Inneke23 enough adventures, empty bottles and broken hearts (again) to be ready with a bunch of new songs, so... Inneke23 and the Lipstick Painters travel to Ljubljana to meet Chris Eckman and Rok Podbevsek and somewhat later, to record their new album"Charcoal."
After the release of the second album Inneke23 whent on tour again and played in all kind of places in Belgium, Holland and Germany.Today 2011, 23 is still performing and comes with a collection of old and new songs, sometimes on her own as singer-songwriter, sometimes with her new band "the Bunch", a wild bunch of bohamian type musicians.

Un día de manifestación, normal y corriente.Tras el exitoso paseo-cacerolada,habia en la plaza Arriaga asamblea para organizar temas de las fiestas de Bilbao. Un grupo decide irse al Casco Viejo a seguir difundiendo el mensaje.
El motivo era que "se les dijo que la manifestación acabaría en el Arriaga".
Hubo tensión, discusión, compañerxs asustadxs e intimidados `por el despliegue armamentístico.Nosotros exigiamos el derechoa estar en la calle y decir lo que pensamos
Al final, tras identificar a dos personas, uno grito: "¡NOS VAMOS!",saliendo en formación . Mientras, llegaban compañerxs de la plaza Arriaga (GRACIAS A TODXS).
Este grupo, 23 & the Bunch, habiendo sido testigos de lo sucedido,nos dedicaron un concierto,que convirtio la plaza en una fiesta,un momento de tension e intimidacion en alegria y fraternidad a pesar de las fronteras e idiomas.
Algunx cuenta que se le cayeron lágrimas, porque fué una muestra de apoyo muy grande.
